Default 3" manual cutout on stock catback Help

Hey, i plan to put a cheap 3" summit cutout on the stock catback right before the axle, from what ive read the stock catback is 2.75" instead of 3" inch like i thought, the cutout is made to slip over 3" exhaust. I am wondering if it will be possbile to crush it down enough with the clamps to seal, or if it will have to be welded (i have a mig welder with no gas, will be hard to make a perfect seal with it). Also it may be possible to cut off the flanged part of the cutout off so that the smaller diameter part may fit tighter on the stock pipe for use with the clamps. Here is a pic, i was just curious if anyone has figured this out.

just get it welded that way you wont have to worry about getting leaks.

I got mine installed on saturday but I also got a magnaflow muffler on there sounds very nice.

well i just got it on, took about 2 hours. I just clamped it real good for now, need to get it welded at a shop when i get a chance, has a slight leak when capped. However i dont think i ever wanna put the cap on, it sounds AMAZING. It sounds better than i thought it would, no rasp or drone. Sounds like a really nice catback would with headers. And still quiet at idle and part throttle, but deep and throaty when WOT. probably the best mod ive ever done to a car for the money.

You'd be a manlier man than me if you never got tired of it. Especially on a long trip. Still a great mod to do though.

I honestly dont think its loud at all at idle or cruise...sounds like a relatively quiet cat back untill i go WOT. Note i still have the stock manifolds, cats, and y pipe. With headers im sure its a different story. I thought it would have drone at some rpm but it doesnt at all, mabye its just the way i angled it or something. Ive very happy with it, even my gf loves it and doesnt think it is annoying or loud when im not gettin on it.

I installed mine on saturday and drove back home an hour away and damn when your going about 70-90mph the sound starts to get to you lol.

so on long trips you might want to cap it.

btw - im running it with my stock manifolds aswell and a magnaflow muffler.
