Default Never had an SES light

I've never had an SES light since I owned the car(feb 06). When is the damn SES light supposed to show? I'm currently running on only 1 02 sensor(waiting for new densos to come in) and the car runs good. Isn't the ses light supposed to come on when it reads an 02 sensor missing? Car is running better that it did with the bad 02 sensor on. It's wierd, I've never seen the SES light before. I had the car scanned and i had a p0300 and p0171 WITH the bad 02 sensor, yet the SES light never came on. Wtf is going on?

I had a small tune, for emissions removal and such but nothing major. Not running speed density either. I'm beginning to think it's the bulb.

the drivers side is unplugged

likely turned off the light for 02's and misfire detection.

So what can set the SES light off? I want to make sure it's not the bulb.
