SS exhaust

SS exhaust I have '98 Z28. Guy with 2000 SS gave me his old exhaust for free after getting SLP Loudmouth. Is there any really difference b/w stock z28 and SS exhaust. Considering it's free is it worth the trouble of installation.

Re: SS exhaust There were two optional exhaust packages that SLP
had available for SSs in my year ('02). But, not
every SS necessarily got them. They were rated
for 10HP over factory. On my CME the I-pipe, the
muffler and the post-muffler pieces are all larger
diameter than the stock Z/28 exhaust and the Y-pipe
appeared to be "enhanced" as well (certainly a non-
factory-quality, non-stainless oval section seems
not to be normal GM, to me).
The dual-dual or CME (center-mounted exhaust) tips
should be an indicator that this exhaust was a
special. Rectangular tips is the regular one,
skinny tailpipes is regular.
If the muffler looks stock and the outlets are
under 2.5" diameter then it's probably not worth
the effort.
The SLP SS option exhausts flow pretty well
but are pretty quiet.
