I'll never convert to an auto on either car.

I'd look into a carfax report at the very least if you have any slight feeling at all that it may have been in an accident. Its not the only SOM WS6 A4 out there.

It being a TA might have had it's head light motors replaced on one or both sides. If this is the case, the guy might have just not lined up the covers right with the bumper when he screwed them back down.

ok so i checked the carfax report and it was clear.... the guy at the dealership said it's had some minor paint work but nothing noticable.... like i said in a previous post there is a larger gap between the hood and the headlight on the passenger side than the drivers side.. one more thing i noticed is that the ground effects on the drivers side hangs kinda low.. there is a bigger gap than there should between the ground effect and the body of the car... so that's about it, the car runs great tho.. very strong.... im just kinda nervous about buying it, but from all that being said do u guys think i should do it? im getting a good deal on it btw, my buddy is selling it to me.

Go for the A4. I caught alot of **** for buying a a4 instead of a stick but I rode around in m6 SS and felt like with every shift my neck was going to snap. It's nice if you play around on the street alot but for dd not some much IMO. I have rode in a built 4l60 with heads and cam and a stall and loved every minute of it. go for the SOM too. that is what attracted me to my 02
Z28 in the first place.

good luck man..

i know plenty of people that buy totaled cars and fix em and drive them. try to look for behind the panel damage so you can see if it was minor or not. if everything passes a good visual inspection get it. and start looking for a stall converter.

thanks man.... yea i'll be honest i was getting kinda tired driving around this tiny town i live in where it's alot of stop and go in my M6... i mean the car was really fun to drive but i wanted something with a little bit lower mileage and just basically just something different...
so anyway i got the A4 today... went to the dealership this morning and picked it up, it's in the driveway now.... i'm sure there will be times ill miss the M6 but as for now i'm really happy with this new one

this is true.... im just hoping i didnt buy one of those cars...
one thing i noticed is that the gap between the door and the front quarter panel is a little bit wider on the passenger side than the driver's side....i mean not like a huge difference but its noticable.... something to worry about? or is it that somewhat common from the factory?

let a 6 speed guy ride with me the other day and it was his first time in a stalled auto. he said it pulled strong and even through the whole band. never any dead spots. that was a great compliment.

These cars weren't perfect from the factory ... they weren't up to Lexus or Mercedes standards for panel fit. Sometimes they've been in fender benders. They've almost always been jacked up improperly on the front fender mounting bolt pad, and that will cause that gap to be off. Unless you're planning to put it in a lot of car shows, nobody will likely ever notice except you.

i recently sold my m6 ss and went to an a4 ws6. its not as fun on the streets to play around with but its a hell of alot better a the dragstrip. I also broke the rear 3 times in the camaro at the strip and the a4 seems to be much more forgiving as for as maintenance and wear and tear
