I'd just get a lid to start with. A lot of guys swear by them, but I don't care for the cold air kits that place the ducting in front of the radiator.

If you have a Firebird, you can cut openings in the hood brace behind the dual inlets in the bumper, and that will feed cold air directly to the air filter.

I think price may have something to do with it. Most seem to be around $200, although I found a brand new one for $150

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140238432556

It didn't make the car run any hotter or anything like that, and it seems to work, according to IAT datalogs. FWIW, I also have a lid.

it's been a beaten subject... once picking up speed a ram air kit SHOULD help although on the low end of the curve you not gonna see much difference... just depends on how much $$$ you care to spend at the time

The FTRA is dependent on having a free flowing lid so if you only have money for that, buy a lid first. You can check out the 85mm lid we sell on our web site.

After you have the lid, the FTRA (Fast Toys Ram Air Kit) is a very worthwhile mod and will also help improve your fuel economy which means the kit will eventually pay for itself.

Check out this link for some independent testing:
