Default My UD Pulley Comparison

i had got my hands on a ASP pulley that someone didnt tighten up and messed it up and my stock balancer and had some time to weigh them, now the one on my truck is even heavier than the stock one but is still underdrive.
Heres the weights i came up with
ASP - 8 lbs.
Stock truck - 10 lbs.
Powerbond - 12 lbs.
how much benifit would i have with going to a ASP???????? That added weight to me offsets the real gains of an underdrive pulley .

edit: i changed the symbol so everyone would know what i was meaning

And the Summit unit is 11-12 lbs. Don't know how much difference it would make. Are all those SFI rated?

nono thats how much they actually weighed - dex
yes they are all SFI approved - intercool
these are weights that i actually took on scales we use to weigh nitrous bottles so i know they are pretty acurate. i have the powerbond on my truck so its the heaviest

After installing both, I'm no longer a fan of the power bond. It's heavier, and harder to install because it doesn't slide far enough down on the snout to start threading w/ a stock bolt. It's a pretty unit and has timing marks, but not enough to convince me to use one again.

ASP is still the best pulley out there IMO.

Damian, any experince with March? I like their dampening qualities as advertised but it's honestly the only I have experince with. I have seen powerbond, SLP, ASP and obviously March (seemed heavy) so can you please expand on your thoughts???? They all seemeed to be well made.......

some peeps like to run a better tensioner with the asp's b/c of throwing belts. the powerbond/slp, and i think the summit as well have taller walls. can also be why they are heavier too...

I've got an asp & its been great! I have the "gates" belt as the main belt and the house brand for the a/c. Never had a problem and I've got a few more ponies to help with smoking stangs and vettes!

Does anyone know the weights of all the different underdrive pulleys out there? It would be really awesome to have a comparison. Maybe one of the sponsors can take some off the shelves and weigh them.

i don't know if lighter is always better. i have seen lighter flywheels actually slow you down. when i researched flexplates i was able to find out that info as well. after finding the right people they told me to go with a heavier one on a full weight car. if the car is has a lot of weight reduction then you need to go with one a little lighter. i am not saying this necessarily applies but it is something to think about.

just a fyi, I had the stock pulley and 6700rpm rev limiter and the belt would sometimes slip over the edge of the alternator pulley. It wouldnt come completely off. The tossing belts might not be from the underdrive pulley, it could be coming off by the alternator pulley.
