Default Help with poly mount install

i was wondering from anybody that has done poly motor mounts, how they got the top rear bolt out on the passenger side mount. the only thing i can get on the bolt is a box end wrench and there is no way that bolt is coming loose (its a 98).

i coated it with bolt breaker and am letting it sit overnight and will try again tomorrow, but did anyone do this with sockets and a u-joint?

just looking for something that will help me finish this install.

by the way i have pacesetter longtubes, if i cant get it out any other way im going to have to drop my exhaust and i really dont want to have to order some new gaskets.

any help appreciated.

I feel for you man. I was going to change mine out until I saw how much of a bitch it was with everything in the way. Can you possibly remove the bolts from the cross member and then raise the engine a little to make more room?
I ended up waiting until I swapped out the heads. It's a piece of cake with no heads and exhaust in the way of course.

with LTs in, i can't even imagine the hassles and tight fit.

I had my exhaust off and was able to remove it pretty easy. I also say to drop the exhaust.

i jacked the engine up a few inches but the problem is that the header curls over the mount, so its hard to fit anything in there - even my hand. jacking the engine would make getting the mount out easier, but i have one more bolt before i can do that! ahhhh.

i really need a larger wrench or breaker bar but im amazed the 13mm wrench will fit in there to be honest, much less a breaker bar. it is rusted on so bad i was pulling my weight up off of the ground (~180 lbs) and it didnt budge.

thanks for the help, ill see what i can do.

P.S. - i knew this was going to be difficult, and i was prepared for pretty much everything except for this bolt. i wouldnt say its been smooth sailing, but i was ready for some hard work....but this is just ridiculous.

Oh the fun has just begun. Wait until the mount install, I spent probably 1-2 hours installing the driver side mount. The bolt that goes through the mount was a huge pain in the ***.

Good luck!

take your headers off, it will be alot easier. I did mine about 3 weeks ago. It took about 6.5 hours to do both sides. That was w/ my headers already off though.

When I did mine, I also did rod bolts so I dropped the K member with the motor jacked up by the trans. Once the K member was out of the way they were pretty easy to reach. Just do rod bolts while you're under there.
