loose a little weight if you remove the smog pump...clean up the look of the engine bay...might see slight gain from weight reductipn and parasitic loss from the belt....
gettin ready to remove mine next weekend...need to figure out the new belt length....

Air injection motor is electric, so no belt needed. The only thing you will gain is a cleaner engine bay and excelerated wear on the cats + a SES light to boot.

It helps them heatthe cats up at start up.. there for less wear on the cats. When i deleted mine, i deleted the cats and put a off riad pipe in.. I didnt care..

dont count on gaining power man... although if you havent already cut the tube part of the EGR that goes in the intake you will see better airflow into the intake .... so yeah maybe something there

You can order the plates for the AIR and EGR from Thunder Racing, Not sure if i would say HP gains, for me it was better flow, less chance of leaks and a cleaner setup, easier to work on the engine, change plugs etc..

I changed mine out mostly because i fought my EGR tube and my intake for a long time and was always getting leaks at the intake. It is really a crappy setup and GM must have relized it when they changed the intake's after 00.

You'll need a blockoff plate for the intake too, unless you want to switch over to the LS6 intake as I did and many others. It eliminates the EGR plus results in more power especially when you start doing more mods. Ive read somewhere on here about a new intake constructed of the same material as the LS1/LS6 intakes, but Im not sure if theyre out yet and if so, if anyone is using them. LS6 intake is a good upgrade and wont need to worry about a sheetmetal one until youre running BIG cubes! Hope this helps.

I would not diconnect a.i.r or egr. No horse power will be gained from removing it, only ses lights. EGR removal will result in same ses light and a reduction in gas milage at part throttle light load (highway). EGR system is not active during WOT. Beleive it or not EGR systems cool the combustin chamber during light load.

If you arent going to be running cats and if you are going to get both of them deleted out of the PCM, then go for it! I had my EGR deleted when I installed the LS6 intake and I never got an SES light since. I dont know if it has any affect on the emissions, but if I was to guess, the AIR would because you would then need the cats, then for them to work properly, the AIR would have to be in use.
