im gonna sound like one of those others dicks but search, i did and it comes up with way to many posts for you to be wasting this time typing lol. majority is gonna tell you coated and than your gonna get a couple of guys who dont care what your askin all they know is your talkin header material and they're gonna chime in and tell you go stainless. if you plan to keep the car eventually both coated and painted will look the same(****) but out of the 2 i've heard coating last's a lot longer and looks much better.

Coated will not rust as fast, but neither will last forever if you DD in the winter (in CA you should be fine).

Here in Indiana a rough estimate would be 3-5 years for painted, 5-8 years for coated, and damn near forever for SS. (DD). If it's just a garage queen and driven in nice days buy whatever the hell you want (coated will look nicer - painted will get surface rust after a few heat cycles).

i say get painted headers unless you plan on keeping the car your entire life. both coated and painted will rust, neither will rust bad enough to hinder performance or cause problems. it's merely a cosmetic issue as the coating is cheap and will not last. painted headers will last just as long, but will look worse. same performance, same gains, etc. header brand and/or material will not increase the resale value, unless you're keeping the car for your life i wouldn't bother with stainless.

run the same times with $260 headers or $850 and everywhere between. your choice.

then there is the shorty/long tube debate haha.

Get the coated. They will still rust over time, but they wont rust as fast as a painted header.

If you wrap painted headers, won't they last less? Wraps get wet. Wouldn't that invite more rust to the header surface? Just though I'd get this answered once and for all. Thanks

I got the coated ones. I was going to just get the painted ones, strip them with aircraft remover, and give them a coating with that BBQ grill paint (or whatever it's called), but opted against that.
