hey JBIRd what are the materials that I would need to do this mod, I dont want to buy the BG ram air (way too expensive).

I removed the baffles by drilling out the rivets and they just popped out. The plate is just some scrap metal that I cut to size and painted black. The magnet comes in a strip and has adhisive on the back. You should be able to find it @ home depot. I did buy the corner pieces of the BG kit just to clean up the look of the hood since I took out the honeycomb grill too.

Try thishttps://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/940817-removing-baffle-ws-6-hood.html
U need to do a search it takes 2 seconds But here some info.... On a stock WS6 hood the Baffles are the plastic plates in the nostrils, the rivets are what holds the baffles (plastic plates) in place. Now I don’t know it the SLP hoods or the after market hoods have baffles.

Like was mentioned in post #10, there are 2 baffles (or pices of plastic) that are in the stock WS6 hood that help block water from getting into the intake. They are attched to the hood by rivets. These can be drilled out and the baffles can then be removed.
I have no idea if the SLP hood is the same as a WS6 hood, as I have never seen one in person. You can do a search in this section for "debaffle" and it should maybe help you get a clearer picture of the process.

ok found this online, its not my hood. the yellow marker is where the fiberglass shield is and thats where i want to cut.

there on the back side (best I could get), is where the air goes in. it has oval openings (yellow oval circles). is that the baffle? everything around the wholes is just fiberglass, theres no absolutley bolts or anything....

YES the SHIELDS ARE (BAFFLES) rivets holds the baffles in place you dont have to cut any thing just drill out the rivets to remove the baffles there mit be some gule holding the baffles in place just move them back and fourth after drilling the rivets you have to seal the hood with the lid for it work.Look back at some of my posts and read them about sealing it. U have to make a custom 1 inch plate to seal it.

OK then i would think twice before cutting holes in your hood.
For 1. the performance gains if any will only be seen 80 mph faster if the hood is sealed to the lid
2 it mit look ugly with big holes in the hood and have water and bugs go straight in the air filter.

You're call .GOOD LUCK

De-baffle and run a lid. That usually works the best according to most people that eventually do it. IF you are that worried about having true ram-air, you should look into a procharger.
