ok I want to do a weird mod. I think someone already did it. On the ram air hood, the vents it seems to have that "blockage" for the air to go just straight through. I want to cut that fiberglass part behind the vents and when it rains I want to close it up with some acrylic vents or something, has anybody done this or have an idea?? thanks!!!

just drill out the rivets and the baffles will come right out...my friend did it to his WS6 and he says you don't have to worry about it in the rain since water still doesn't get in there.

well the holes on the WS6 are pretty big...if you look thru them you can see its just a hole and air goes straight thru without the baffles...but if your afraid about hydrolocking your motor i guess you can go ahead and block them out when it rains...although personally i wouldn't take it out in the rain.

My GM WS6 hood has had zero issues in the rain without the baffles. Been that way for a long time.

Thats the key is sealing the air box if you remove the front baffles or the back baffles or both. Air will take the path of less resistances

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/892232-ram-air-does-ram-proof-inside.html Read this ,see if this helps you decide which way to go or not go

I removed both of those baffles in the hood and now I have a straight shot of air to the filters. I made my own "rain blocking plate" using a piece of thin metal that I painted black and a strip of magnet that I stuck to the inside of the hood to help hold the plate in place. Whenever it looks like rain, I just jump out and throw the plate in there. It literally takes less than 5 sec.
pic 1 is the air intake, pic 2 is with the hood closed, pic 3 is the plate, and pic 4 is the plate installed

It's been done a million times. Search this forum for the word baffle. There used to be a kit you could buy for several hundred dollars that came with all the parts you needed to open up and seal the hood to the air box and included a rain blocker plate and corner pieces to smooth the incoming air. Search for BG Ram Air. Just do like JBird said and drill out the rivets and pop them out. The front one is glued in and can be a bitch to get out.
BTW, what does WS9 in your sig mean?

Well, it seemed to help a little @ higher speeds (like 85+). I dont know how much, if anything, I gained from this mod since I dyno with the hood up anyways. I just put this mod in the "every little bit counts" category lol!
