Best Cat-back (performance and sound)
#21
flowmaster sounds good I dont think it flows as bad as everyone tries to make it seem you know people are like sheep just looking for something to follow. I have a flowmaster I'm just going to spend 50 bucks on a cut-out instead of spending 300+ on a new system and with the cut out you will get the max performance anyway.

I currently have Magnaflow on my car with Pacesetter LTs and ORY. The magnaflow sounds good but I wanted something different so I just ordered a Mufflex 4" single outlet system with a Spintech muffler. I love the way Mufflex systems sound.

^ exact same set up, mine has magnaflow cats/custom made Y. I'm tempted to get a Hooker though. I just like quad tips on a Trans Am and think $500 plus for a catback is just plain nuts. (I bought my Borlas used). I had the Magnaflow and sold it, just never really liked the tone.

Proof that some people dont know rasp from their ***.

just get cut-out, even if $$ is not an issue for you why waste it for the little bit of power you will gain with a different cat back. a cut-out is cheeper and will give you more power than a new cat back.

Dude I had the flowmaster on my car and recently went to LT's custom catted Y and magnaflow. Worlds of difference! Whereas the flowmaster sounded like a truck to me the magnaflow sounds like a muscle car should. It also really easy to live with. Its quieter than the flowmaster when cruising around or at idle, and when Im wot it sounds good and loud. The exhaust not is the best part because it has that nice burble to it, its just as smooth as silk man I could go on for hours!

haha i guess my car must be the exception b/c my car has no rasp whatsoever! whether in it or behind it its as smooth as can be! my buddies flowmaster + o/r Y + mac mids is horrible! ill get a clip up asap but its down and out right now b/c some idiot hit it in the parkin lot at my apt tues night so im waitin on it to get out the body shop!

i've had Flowmaster and now Magnaflow through Mac Mids and ORY, and the magnaflow sounds alot nicer, very clean at any RPM. I am currently switching to Pace setter LT's and X-pipe Dumped with Dynomax super turbo mufflers.

I've had 3 different setups on my car.
1st was a Magnaflow 2nd Duals with a x pipe over the axle and the 3rd being a GMMG.
The duals sounded better at idle but the cat-backs (both of them) sounded better at WOT. The GMMG sounds nothing like a farm truck. To say that it does is ignorant. Evidently you don't like them, you've never been around a farm truck or have never heard one in person. The Magnaflow is hands down the best bang for the buck. Its sounds soft at idle, but it sounds great under load. The GMMG is probably the most unique sound to it. It sounds different from everything else I've heard. The duals were a PITA. They were expensive didn't really sound that great anywhere but idle. At idle they sounded pretty tough but for all the other downfalls they really werent' worth it.

To say that it sounds like crap is an opinion, to say that it sounds like a farm truck is more of a comparison. Either way though I'm not trying to argue with you. Which is why I deleted that little comment. Say what you want, I know what it sounds like. I have one.

have you ever been behind yours when someone else is driving it? it has no tone just raspy loundness. now, if the same setup was on true duals, it would sound good. but the ORY with the shitty merges makes it sound like ****. IMO. but then again, some people like the sound of a straight piped farm truck.

^^Just get the LS7 clutch kit. Feels like the stock LS1 clutch, but grabs much harder and can handle the horsepower your pushing. Aftermarket clutches all have their own advantages and disadvantages. If this is not strictly a drag car, I would stick with LS7...
Thanks guys. Regarding the cut-out. If I do the cut-out, I will keep the flowmaster cb, not worth the swap with a cut-out right now.

I ordered an LS7 clutch kit for my car and the damn thing came in with a bad flex plate, was leaking all over the ground and delayed me by a day. Thankfull Ryne at CMS was able to get a centerforce clutch with billet steel flywheel the next day. Now the centerforce is a damn good clutch, Gets my reccomendation!

^^^Lucky me I guess. I've had no issues since I put the clutch in. Only about a month ago, but feels great. Plus, my old clutch was such garbage, that any functioning clutch feels like a world of difference.
I guess for the Magnaflow seems to be one of the preferred cat-back systems for $$$ and quality. Is that a stainless design as well? Flowmaster looks like garbage after having it on for almost 6 years.

Cutouts sound good and for the money can't be beat. But yesterday I had my gf drive it, and it was raspy at part throttle. Sounded good WOT, but 50% (my guess) as I was on the side of the road as she drove off, sounded like poo. Went WOT on another road paralle to the road I was on...and sounded great. Cats help with rasp on almost all systems from what I've been reading lately.
