Why cam only?

I didn't even have enough money to do a cam swap lol
Nitrous it is!
Anyways you can make some good numbers with cam only swaps. Three guys that I know are at or over 400whp with a cam only swap.

I think 3000 Would be way high on the spectrum. I think the heads we would consider would be a fair amount cheaper. For people going cam only obviously money is an issue or they would go H/C. I dont really want the sound of a cam yet. I scare off enough races as is. The root to the question I guess is if I can pick up a good set of Ported/milled heads would it be a bad idea on the stock cam? I did try a search but couldnt really find the answer i was looking for.

It's has to do with making more power for the money. If you are on a budget and want to make the most power possible for the money you are going to spend (and don't want to run N20) then the cam is likely to yield more increase in power that your looking for (and most people just want that sound). If you did a head swap on a stock engine with the usual bolton’s I think you could gain 20-30 hp. Budget heads are very good for the money. There are a few companies on this site that CNC port stock heads and sell them for under $2,000.00. I wanted to buy a head that I could use for future builds and the Trick Flow seemed perfect for my future plans. My opinion is the budget heads are only good for stock or just over stock CI motors with stock style intakes (again that's just my opinion) and cannot be used to maximize larger displacement engines as well as an after market head like AFR or Trick Flow.
