My New Jantzer Ported TB
I ran a tenth slower with the cutout on and open. I couldn't turn better than a 10.7x, but it was 80 degree nights in July...could have something to do with it...
Since my original times of 13.60's, I've added 3.42's, headers, high flow cats, aluminum driveshaft, FTRA and a ported throttle body. I gotta get it dynotuned, then eventually I'll try to run in the fall sometime...if I can get my tires to stick...
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Well, I've been interested now that one of our sponsors have started carrying Jantzer throttle bodies. I was interested in his because he doesn't knife edge the blade or do that useless 'epoxy mod' crap. All that stuff does is screw with your idle and risk blowing up your motor with a nice chunk of epoxy in the combustion chamber.
Well, I finally planned on coming home this weekend for some family stuff, and Chris @ Ccperformance was running a special in the sponsor sales section, so I finally decided to pull the trigger on it. The only problem was he was shipping all the way from Oregon and I live in New Jersey and I didn't even see the special until Monday night. I gave him a call Wednesday morning at 12pm ET (9am PT, his time) to order the part and pray it got here on time. I wanted a black powdercoated throttle body for my car and lo and behold, he had one in stock. By the time I got off the train yesterday, it was already at my house.
Yup, from Oregon to New Jersey in 2 days! Niiiccceeee.
I've seen plenty of threads on ported TB's, and they all seem to show one, two or no pics at all, and I think this makes a lot of people really reluctant to pull the trigger on these things. I've tried to take some comprehensive shots of the piece for you guys because, really, it's a beautiful work of art.

Sorry if that might be a little excessive for a throttle body, but I want you guys to get the best idea possible. The kit also came with a free throttle body bypass, and you can see that attached in the second to last picture.
The results:
Throttle response is definitely a hell of a lot better. As for power, I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I can feel a difference or not because honestly, if you can seriously detect 5-10rwhp, you're a special human being. I believe most people feel those small gains in their heads only. Plus, my car is so out of tune from the headers and cutout, it's hard to judge any SOTP gain correctly
So, for the increase in throttle response and the beautiful look alone, it's worth it. I'm sure I gained power, but I'll never know how much. Every little bit helps.
Thanks Chris for the insanely fast shipping and the nice TB. I'm going to put the core in the mail today and have it sent back to you.
To those of you afraid to do the ported TB swap yourself (and I'm sure they're out there), it's really easy. It takes about 40 minutes with 20 of those minutes getting the bottom right coolant hose off
Congrats...I think you're right about that TB gaining atleast 5-7 rwhp.
I think in the past its been proven. And look at it this way your gains are about half the gain that a $1,400 intake/TB would cost....very nice choice!!
If I find the time, I'm going to install it tomorrow.
