German Castrol 0w30 is the only way to go! I agree with SomWS6bird that **** is great. put it in the new motor and always have 60 psi.

For the price, you can not beat Pennzoil Platinum. I know a lot of people hate the Pennzoil dino oil, and for good reason, but the synthetic doesn't have the parafins that the dino oil does.

PP is good ****.

Agreed 100%.
The Pennzoil Platinum is one of the TOP off-the-shelf 'synthetic' oils right now.

10w-30 for the LSx platform.

I used to work at several auto parts stores, and even a couple dealerships....Pennzoil apparently used to use a higher degree of paraphins in the oil which lead to sludge/waxy buildup....I dunno, I'm sure they learned from their mistakes and that was back in the 60's anyways....but I'm not going to risk it.....no one I ever knew ran pennzoil so I guess I am kinda stuck in the way of that.

I have heard from customers at my work (jeep dealership service) that Pennzoil dino oil has a different crude base or whatever, heavy in wax. You guys have me thinking about using the Pennzoil Platinum as I have read great stuff about it. I have 60 psi above 1800 with any oil I've run, including my current oil, Valvoline 10/30 dino. The GC 0-30 or whatever weight it is is readily available at Autozone here, but about $1 or more a quart than most. Have you looked into Walmart Supertech synthetic?
