Cooling problems in town
Find a kit that will test for hydrocarbons in your radiator. I think you can buy them, if not, ask some shops in the area if they have one. This will help determine if you are getting combustion gases into the cooling system.
NAPA sells those kits but I can't remember how much $$$. Pressure test the cooling sytem might tell you something too. But if you aren't loosing coolant I would doubt a cracked or HG problem. I have been following this thread cause I have the same issue just not to your extreme though mine would see 230*+ with the stock radiator. I have lost NO coolant so I am still puzzled

I got it on the highway and rode at 70-75 for at least 20 minutes the lowest it would go is 187

Yeah thats 80 degrees what do I do when it is 100 next summer?
we tested for exhaust gases and it showed a tiny bit the color turned a bit yellow.
That was before I changed the head gaskets.
I went today and did a pressure test on the cooling system we got it to 22 pounds and it leaked down to 16 in 20 minutes.
Don't know what that should tell me??
I am going to swap to the 180 t stat and see what that does. Im bored and haven't worked on her since before the lsx shootout, so I need to do something lol
I did put some of that GM stop leak stuff in the cooling system the tech in there said they put that in all the v8s when they do anything to the cooling system.
I guess if that helps them I can say that i have a leak or crack or something somewhere
