LS7 maf & LS1 pcm
Can I use the LS7 maf with an 02' fbody pcm. This is an LS1 swapped RX7 & I'm using the K&N intake. I would be REALLY nice to eliminate the fbodys bulky maf for the LS7's compact one that I already a spot for.
Thanks in advance, mike

You'll get a better response in the tuning section. I can say that if the LS7 MAF can be correctly connected to the 02 PCM, then the MAF scale can be tuned to work with your PCM. Now, I say this not knowing if connectors exist to swap an 02 MAF w/an LS7 MAF. Further, the LS7 MAF must measure airflow in frequency HZ, as does the 02 MAF. It most likely does, but, I don't know for sure. So, as long as it can be connected & GM hasn't changed the signal, then it can be scaled to work. Hope this is helpfull.

Thanks, I doubt there is a plug/harness that connects the 2 but thats not a problem, also tuning it may take more time but is do-able I'm sure. Its that do they send/need the same signal I'm working on. This would be an real asset to all the swappers out there.
PS nice car, my buddy is doing a 92 sunburst with the V8ROADSTERS kit.

It still works by frequency. The card style MAF is used in a lot of GM vehicles now. Any salvage yard would probaby have a vehicle to get the connector off from.
04-09 W car
04-08 Cobalt
04-06 Rendevous
05-09 Colorado/Canyon
06-08 Buick H car
MAF part
Pin A yellow - MAF signal to ECM
Pin B black/white - ground
Pin C pink - ignition 1 voltage from fuse block
IAT part
Pin D tan - low reference from ECM
Pin E tan - intake air temp signal to ECM
I have one that I may experiment with this weekend, check out the attached picture of a boss for mounting the sensor, direct from GM. The part number is for the boss only. Dealer list price - $6.43

69LT1Bird or anyone who knows.
Is this the pin order on the LS7 MAF, the 85mm MAF (airflow right to left), or both? Thank-you

That is the LS7 pin layout. I got a harness end from the salvage yard from a Canyon and all of the wire colors were the same as my 2002 Silverado 6.0 harness. I hooked them up color for color and the black and tan for the IAT had to be switched, other than that it works. I just came in from tuning, more to do. I had to go back to speed density because my airflow has increased quite a bit. More to come.

I am still a bit rich on top from my commanded but I will get that cleaned up tomorrow. The LS7 MAF is very stable at WOT. I have been playing around with a few different ones lately and in different locations. I have 2 85 mm trucks MAF's, one screened and one descreened. I run a 90mm Holley TB with a 4" 90* elbow to a 24" aluminum tube that goes thru a closeout panel at the right front wheel well, the air filter is in cooler air. There is 4"x9" K & N cone on the end.
The screened MAF has worked very good, the hz scale stayed fairly smooth, the descreened MAF fluctuated with spikes. The air flow increased over the screened but I didn't like the spikes.
I decided to try the LS7 style. I made a short tube from the same tubing as the rest of the intake system. The picture is a screen shot of a run tonight (even had the wife with me). More tuning is needed, I am not a pro so it takes me longer, but it is coming along. The dynamic cylinder air goes over 1.00 g/cyl for most of that WOT run, the dynamic air and MAF lb/min is staying almost exactly the same. This setup shows very good promise, I am happy so far. At WOT, I am 2-3 lb/min higher with the old MAF ot of the intake stream and about .8 higher in dynamic cylinder air.
Once I get the tune done I will post the whole thing for people to use a base or just the MAF table. Hope this helps some of you out.

Mike, Your going to have to get a flange from VMP tuning. I believe they have one that you can pop rivet on. 6 bucks for the GM one. That is so cheap!!!! It might as well be free.

Hey Justin, Greg aka habu2, reminded me about this thread. If you mean for the MAF? The K&N already has one molded in Can't wait to see your setup, we used very similar AC condensors, wish mine was black though.
