Default Return my Kooks ORY for catted Y ?

I'm just a few weeks away from finally doing this install, and I'm having second thoughts based on what I've read. Searches have not yielded the sound clip I need.

Stock motor, Kooks 1 3/4 LTs and Kooks ORY into Corsa catback.

The negative rasp comments have me worried.

Due to marginal ORY power gains versus better catted sound, should I return the ORY for a catted Y?

Thanks for your opinions. If anyone knows the EXACT location of the sound clip, I'd appreciate it. I've looked (stickies, LS1sound etc)

I cannot help on the sound clip, but I run Kooks LT's, Kooks ORY, and a Corsa and it will rasp like a damn wood haulin pickup between 2000 and ~2800 rpms. I have tried a redesigned merge and couple of different bullets mufflers in the I-pipe and they help a little, but it is still there and drives me crazy.

If you are concerned with sound quality and do not mind a minimal amount of HP loss, then go catted Y for sure.

Wow. Thanks for that feedback, that's what I need to hear. I figure, if I want the dealer to take em back, I can't "try" them first. Plus saves a lot of work reinstalling air pump etc.
2000-3000rpm....that's right where I am as a DD!
Thanks.

I have Kooks 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" stepped primary headers, Kooks Catted Y, and Corsa catback; This setup sounds perfect to me.....Nice and refined while cruising around it seems like I have a slightly deeper stock Corsa but after 3k it gets all sorts of angry sounding. Just a great all around combination. My car is a DD and my 65-70 mph cruise to work doesnt bother me nor have any low engine speed rasp. Hope that helps ya.

Great! Thanks HMFDZ28. That's 2 confirming opinions from both sides of the aisle.
Time to slink back to the dealer and hope the re-stock charge isn't too exorbitant.
Their service has been great so far.

Or worst case, buy two cats and have them installed. That may be an less expensive route. I think Kooks use Random Tech cats.

Kooks has their own "Race" Cats they use now....they hold up better the the Random Techs from the few guys I have known that used both.

No Problems Paul.....Hopefully they can hook ya up with the catted Y
