Meziere Installation Problem
Please I'm in the middle on my Electric Waterpump (Meziere) Installation and I received a thermostat from EPP from Mr. Gasket. and it does not fit. and also went and purchase one at AutoParts (brand: Stant) and It does not fit neither is like 1mm-2mm bigger in diameter than the hole in the pump. Does anyone know where I can get one that will fit and what brand. Thanks
By the way I don't know if it this is okay but the one that sent EPP is totally different to the one that I purchase at Advance Auto Parts which is like one that was used in ls1howto.com with the holes drilled. Still neither of these two fit.
Any help????
Thanks

I'm going to Napa Tomorrow. I let you all know. If the Napa doesnt work I will order the Hypertech part number 1000 which it was said in another threath that would work. Last resort I will call Meziere for them to send me one since they did not and is suppose to be included with the purchase of their $600!!!!!! WATERPUMP.
Man I'm Pissed off. Sometimes it seems that nothing you buy can go in your car without a setback. DANM

...GM changed the style of thermostats used in LSX engines in '04. Go here and then click on Cooling System and you'll see the 2 different styles:

I found this out when I went to do my LS6 swap into my '98 Z28. I had an SLP 160 degree thermostat I was trying to fit into my '04 LS6 waterpump and it just wouldn't fit. The '98-'02 F-Body thermostat is mouted permanantly to the inlet housing, in '04 GM changed back to the old style SB Chevy type thermostat that you could actually just replace the themostat itself.
IF Meziere uses the '04 style inlet pipe (and it's not included with the pump) with replaceable thermostat, then you'll probably have to get one of those as well to make it work on your '98-'02 F-Body. I have NO idea if a regular SB Chevy thermostat will work, or if it's just that style, but still LSX specific.
This may not have anything at all to do with your problem, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case...
Good luck!

Okay the thermostat that I purchase from NAPA does not fit in the Meziere thermostat hole neither it is still 1-2 mm too big. This is getting anoying man. I will call Meziere Monday I don't care If I have to pay for a stupid thermostat I just want my car back on the road.
Question: where are you trying to install this thermostat? In the upper or lower neck? I'm sure you already know it goes in the upper neck, and it just doesn't make sense why the thermostats you bought wouldn't fit unless Meziere did a redesign.
The thermostat installs in the upper radiator neck of the waterpump, not the standard mounting location.
You can buy a standard small block 350 thermostat. I always reference a 68-69 Camaro small block, when i'm picking one up at napa. Just make sure you get the 160* and not the 180*.
It sounds like your trying to install it in the wrong spot (well, its actually the right spot..HaHa)

i had the same problem, could find out where it went... then people say it doesn't take one, then people say it goes in the bottom, then people say it goes in the top... I tried the bottom and nothing worked, then i tried to open the top piece that says ls1 and i could even find a socket big enough. and then i was thinking about putting a crescent wrench on it but it was to nice to mess up like that, so i didn't even use one...
As for those trying to get the upper neck off, I've used channel lock pliers in the past, but that will gouge it up a little if you aren't careful. A 2" combo wrench will also fit...for something that size and cheap, you'll want to go to Harbor Freight or the like.
