At 2000 RPM and WOT, it sounds like a Gatling gun. Above that RPM its okay.
I have the cats back in at the moment for emissions test. The cats do dull the sounds, but in a good way, with no cats it does sound raw/raspy. Many people have commented on how loud and good it sounds with the cats in.
I personally got the Corsa due to the nice looking tips.
While it's not made anymore, SLP's Dual/Dual fits your bill (you win on the tips, they're ugly). I swapped my TD's for the Dual/Dual and couldn't be happier. I also run a DMH E-cutout for when I want to act like I'm 17
. It was everything I wanted.....quiet at idle (cam, ORY), quiet at cruise, awesome at WOT. And since the tips were so awful, I got some nice Corsa 3.5" clones. I've got the perfect exhaust! And just like the Corsa, many have shown little to no gains on the dyno with the cutout open versus closed. I'm not comparing the two, just saying that the D/D is a viable option that was also cheaper. I have heard the Corsa on a H/C car with cats though and I thought it sounded great. It was certainly louder than the D/D at WOT which isn't a bad thing. If I could change one thing about the D/D, it would be sightly louder. But I wanted noise control and that's exactly what it did for me. Maybe with some mileage it'll get a little louder.

Corsa handles the volume management much better than the Dual/Dual. Also, it's important to note that when the Dual/Dual was in production, it was a $600+ catback as well. Corsa was much cheaper back then due to a recent large spike in stainless steel prices, so when the Dual/Dual was in production, the prices were similar. If the Dual/Dual were still made today, I could only assume since the prices were similar back then, they'd be similar now.
