Default Breathing DEEEEEP!

What was most notable were two things:

1- The de-baffle process took all of 15 mins maybe, really easy.

2- Despite what I though I actually recorded a rather significant change in airflow at the MAF as per the LTFT swing which went from a consistent 4-6% rich to just about dead nuts 0-2% rich. I'm even having to consider adding a splash of fuel just to prevent excess enrichment at PE transition! As a side note, I actually find it a little more 'agressive' looking without the cute black honeycomb inserts too lol

not sure how effective it was on mine or if it was effective at all but it was worth a try

It may lower your engine bay temps, but it seems kinda useless to me without something like an FIPK.

Congrats if you like it though.

Actually it lines up the opening directly infront of the opening of the air box. I added some padding to the edged of the inner hood side panel to seal it off to the box.

Maybe with a Camaro hood, but the WS6 hood is a straight shot into the air box once those useless baffles are gone. I have drove thru Monsoon rains in my car & never had a water problem. GM should never have put those damn baffles in there.

This is the first mod I did basically. Why buy a FIPK that will block the radiator some compared to doin this for free?? Doesn't make sense unless you have a stock Camaro/Firebird hood.

Well correct me if I'm wrong, but to me it looks like air is coming in the hood and hitting your airbox lid. Air is still being sucked up into the engine from beneath the car when it hits the plastic air dam, no? Or is the airbox design different in a WS6 than other F-bodies?

Yes, there is a slight difference in the WS6 lower airbox & the square hole on the inside of the hood lines up with the opening on the airbox after the hood is fully closed. The foam you see lined around the hood hole seals to the front of the airbox so all the air comming in goes into the box.

Oh, cool. Well definitely a good mod then.

Thanks for clearing that up, Mike.

Depending on your computer monitor setup it may be hard to see, but the opening in the panel of the hood lines up directly with the air box opening. WS6 lower boxes are taller than Camaro/Firebird boxes.

I did the rear baffles on mine. Didn't help one bit and doubt you will see anything on your slip. I get more bugs! BTW... looks horrible without something to cover the openings

I say paint the inside of the openings black and put some rubber edge protector on the lip of the opening. I think it would really clean it up.

Yep that's my intention, I'm going to paint the inside of the chamber black and look for an insert I know I've seen around before that screws into place using the existing two bolt holes for the honeycomb screen.

You "might" still be able to find the corner pieces from the BGRA kit which is the corner pieces you speak of. the kit has been discontinued for a long time now, so you'll be extremely lucky to find them.

You could make your own I guess.
