Default Would this cause my belt to come off?

Have had a few belt incidents. Once i started my car and the belt just shot off. And a few times separated by months apart, i was at WOT and when i let off i realized i had no power steering. (aka belt is off)
so heres a pic of my tensioner..would like to know if its bad. it looks a bit crooked..

it might also be the crankshaft pulley. I read around here that this happens. It happened to be once. But anything is possible

Get the Katech tensioner to replace the stock unit. It prevents belt slippage which causes shredding at high rpms.

can you move the tensioner by hand? I would recommend a manual belt tentioner. I plan on getting one soon for my car as I am now spinning to 6500

I got a shorter belt for the short term with my ASP pulley and stock tensioner. A 76" belt (4060760) was slipping and throwing at high RPMs but a 75.5" belt (4060755) has stayed on with no signs of going anywhere. I lost my 76" belt on a spirited highway on-ramp blast and no power steering and a CHECK GAGES light was on telling me my volts were at like 10. Haven't had any problems with the shorter belt, but still plan on buying a Katech Tensioner just for good measure and peace of mind.

You might not have the pully seated all the in to the engine. just some thing to check.

The gap at the top does look bigger than the bottom of the tensioner. I've had problems with seating my pully before and I wasn't tossing belts but it was moving off the engine a little. just some thing to check before you drop the $$ on a new tensioner.

I had it happen to me with an ASP pulley. The pulley separated and slid back some.

so if i check the crank pulley and tighten the tensioner bolts and it still does it. Should i go for a new tensioner or 75.5'' belt..as opposed to the standard 76''
