Unhappy stupid flowtech headers

I got a set of flowtechs headers & ORY about 6 months ago and could never get them to seal right. I have my car in the shop getting tsp 2.5 ls6 head+ ms4 installed. They cant get the flowtechs to seal vary good either. I don’t really have $1000+ to buy kooks headers and ory right now. Is there any other cheaper way I can go or should I just try to save for the kooks and put off getting the s60 for even longer. Could I use the flowtech ORY with the kooks or a set of pacesetters so that I only have to buy headers ?

kooks are really good but I have pacesetter and no regrets on it. You can make anything fit with welding. I welded mine so no more leaks. But question I have similar setup and I was wondering how much better the ls6 stage 2.5 are over the stage 1. That is what I got but I thought I would have gained more. I have not got it perfect in tuning yet nor on a dyno. I dont know good luck.

If the raised bead around the ports is not straight then they will not seal. You could try grinding/sanding the raised beads down (but not all the way to the flange) until they are straight and true.

I have Pacesetters with no leaks and a set of Kooks that have a small leak. Spending money doesn't always do the trick.

Hookers, Jet-Hot and Pacesetter will work with the Flowtech Y-pipe (Flowtech is a company of Holley, owners of Hooker). You will just need to cut off the three-bolt collector flange and adapt some sort of slip fit for the other type of headers I mentioned. Good luck!

Where are they leaking? On the heads or at the collector? If they are leaking at the heads I'd like to know what gasket you're running.

I had to grind the flange that bolts up to the head on my buddy s car. Then I place two gm stock manifold on each side with a super thick layer of copper seal. 3 years and no leaks. But thats not a good fix buy some pacesetter with out the air or egr, Because on the passenger side that tube makes it a bitch to change that plug.

i hate to say it but u get what u pay for, if money is ur issue then pacesetters are for you my friend! if u want top quality that will sqweeze a few more ponies out then id say QTP, kooks or ARH, but beware u will spend between 600 to 1k for em, but like i said u get what u pay for

mine had to be ground down at the ports that go on the head, the driver side had to be tweaked to not rub on the floorpam, and the passenger side had to notch the k member a **** hair to get it to clear, if i did it again would have spent another 100 to get the pacesetters..
