Default How restrictive are OEM LS1 mufflers?

Just courious if anyone actaully knows if stock ls1 mufflers are actaully restictive, and if so, how much?? I have aftermarket exhaust, but now its too loud for DD and wanting to perhaps put the stock muffler with my LT and ORY and just install a cutout.

That's what I have 3" to 4" merge with a cutout. It goes through the stock muffler and sounds real good. Going through it you may loose a few HP but thats what the cutout if for when you need it. IMO the better way to do it to save your sanity!

how loud is the stock muffler? I want it alot quiter, but i don't want SUPER quite either. Still pretty noticable? I'll put the stock one on, but i don't wanna kick myself for it being "unheard" as well. As long at it still has good rumble, lol. Thanks for the help bud!

From the cats through the junky factory Y and 2.75" pipe 18 RWHP sounds like a decent amount. The way I have mine 3" into Flowmaster merge coming out 4" I bet it isn't near that amount.

Mine is about as loud as I want it. It picked it up a decent amount and when cruising like down Main Street it has a nice rumble to it. Good thing is you can take any kind of passenger and not have them get put off by the noise. You crack on it the thing is pretty loud but

IM running LT's ORY and factory muffler...it is pretty damn quite at idle, It doesnt sound bad though. What kinda mufflers you got? I am going to put duals on mine just cause i got a ticket for running with the cutout. I could trade you + some cash.

BTW i can feel a huge diffrence in the throttle when i switch from cutout to muffler...You def loose a good deal amount of power.

I have to schedule a tune and will dyno open cutout in the 4" section vs through full exhaust and post numbers. Going to be a bit because wallet is drained on all the car mods recently.

I have LT ORY and LM1 catback, but in place of the resonator i have a 3" Magnaflow bullet muffler. Sounds BADASS at idle and WOT, but with my heads and cam...etc its really loud for DD with my wife, lol. I live in MO, so we could talk about a deal maybe..

On my 408, car made 497 through the SLP dual dual, which is a factory exhaust. Then, opening the cutouts at each header flange, I made 514.

do a nice y pipe with a cutout. Ive had every single exhaust setup i possibly could.

I finally went back to LT's, catted y, nice merge, vacuum operated cutout, and a 2otl with hidden tips

I have pacesetter LTs and a Y pipe with stock mufflers. Very quiet, dynoed 400rwhp through them. Then when I opened the cutout which is right after the Y I dynoed 440. I'd say they're pretty restrictive

Thanks for the help! I have decided to get the Magnaflow Catback w/cutout, for the money and i know it won't be too loud for driving the neighborhoods at night, lol.
