What is actually "ported" on LS1 Ported throttle bodies? Pics?
(yes i searched)
I just bought (and installed) a polished ported throttle body from off the board, and honestly i didnt see much *if any difference...
The valve itself was the same part number as my stock one, so that makes me think its the same size diameter (i also measured and it was the same...). But besides the polishing and a couple cleaned up edges they appeared to be the same...
Am i missing something here? Pictures anyone?
Thanks

The actual "size" of your TB doesnt change. The "Meat" of the throttle body is shaved of everything besides where the TB Blade touches. You cannot change the size of that or it would not seal correctly. You can also opt to have the Shaft holding the TB blade shaved down (where the screws go and what not). Ported tb is the way to go, you will notice throttle response and some performance... until H/C where you get a fast 90/90 or the likes.

Thanks for the responses, I still dont understand the "meat" part...
Like I said I had the ported and stock TB side by side and couldnt tell a difference (unless the "stock" one i had was ported also?!?)...My car came with TT2's, whisper lid and thats it as far as i know.
I do have a cam on order but going with some ported ls6 heads are still up in the air for me, and if i do yes i will go 90/90, but i can always re-sell this one i have for ~100 bucks after i clean it again!
Bo White - I WAS going to say yeah yeah I just installed my new TB today, but after looking at yours...it looks great!

There is a ridge that goes all the way around the in side of the housing thats about 1mm thick just infront of the blade, that is removed and blended into the rest of the surounding area. The reshaping of the opening of the housing is done, usually, to blend that work all the way to the front tip of the TB near were the bellow clamps down.

This about sums it up:
HUGE difference! Look how thick the walls of the stock one (pictured right) are compared to the ported one (pictured left). The walls of the throttle body are shaved down significantly to increase flow.
