Default WAY too much oil pressure?

Heres the deal guys. My bolt on/tuned 2000 WS6 has an excessive amount of oil pressure. I seem to have about 55-60 psi at idle and anywhere from 65-70 when im getting on it. Ive had two ls1's before this car, and i never had NEAR this much pressure. I was thinking the problem is either the oil pump or the oil pressure sensor? Im not positive but I dont want to harm the motor, and would like to fix this problem ASAP. Thoughts?

I am running an LPE high volume pump with the high pressure spring. I see 75 at idle on a cold stat up and it pegs my Autometer gauge at 100psi anything above 1500rpm. When its warm it idles at about 60psi and 85-90psi WOT hot. It doesnt seem to be hurting my engine. I am not catching hardly any oil in my catch can and not really burning any. I think you'll be fine.

I am running mobile 5w 30 as well with a K&N 3002 filter (bigger like PH8A) on a remote mount oil filter with 1/2" line into a 7qt deep sump Moroso oil pan. High oil pressure isnt bad but it would seem like someone replaced your stock oil pump with maybe an after market melling or something. Maybe the pump went out on the car before you bought it?

Thats a possibility as well. A couple local tuners I just spoke to both feel pretty strongly its the oil pressure sensor...

It is on the high side but fine. Is this car new to you or did it just go way up?

Ive had the car since may. It was tuned by EFI in july, and seems to have gone up some a few months ago, and tends to jump all over between 45 and 70 psi. Sometime the needle seems to stick as well, and jumps quickly. I love the car to death, and also want her to last! she is my DD

Then hook up a mechanical guage or change the OP sending unit. My bet is the OPS unit

LOL well then it sounds like you have an electrical issue, start with replacing the sensor.

Hey what parts did you use to relocate your oil filter? I have the LPE oil cooler adapter, and I was going to use some -10 hose and a cooler, but I was thinking of adding 2 oil filters in the line to increase capacity, but at the same time I want to block off my old filter and just put a bypass there.

I assume you have a new engine since you are running rotella? I would be willing to bet the clearances are a little tighter than stock, nothing to worry about. I see 70 on my stroker when its cold, doesn't bother me a bit.

If the sensor was bad it would be fully pegged all the time and would not change with RPM and/or oil temperature.

HAhah have you seen the Aqua Teen Movie man?! If not go buy it right now!

My moroso 7 qt pan ran -10an lines which i had to run two -10an female elbows with 1/2NPT adapters on them to adapt them to my 1/2" braided SS hydraulic lines (good to 10,000psi) then to the (fram)PH8A oil filter (K&N 3002). They are huge capcity filters. I ran my oil pressure sender on the return line to the block (after the filter)

Check it with a mechanical gauge, also a bad sending unit can cause readings that are not accurate. It's not a work or no-work thing.

No I need to go buy it! Anyways, what parts did you use to block off the old filter, and what adapter did you use for the oil filter? The in line adapters I mean?

My oil pan adapted it for me, I'm not sure how to do it with the stock oil pan. I believe there is a spin on adapter that attaches like your oil filter will and it will have two female ports on it to allow you to thread in your oil filter lines. I'm sure there are kits on ebay.
