2000 lq4 question
i picked up a '00 lq4 complete motor, oil pan to intake without a tranny for $400. the motor has 60k miles on it. i am going to start a junkyard build with this motor. I'm going to slap some pistons in it and spray it. My question is what do i need to do to mate it to a th400? since it has the longer crank i would think it should bolt right up but does it?
thanks in advance

TTT since no answer and I need one too
what is the difference in that size in the search it made mention that the larger cranks can use a regular sbc style converter without having to use a spacer like the actual LS1 car cranks.

TCI makes a flexplate to accommodate the TH400 shaft, or you can get a spacer. Forget who makes it but it is like $35 and it allows the use of standard TH400/350 converters. You will also need a M6 crossmember and a 1"x1" spacer to raise the tailshaft to the proper height. Spohn also makes a spacer for $30.
it's not going in a f-body, so i'm not worried about that stuff.
the "normal" crank needs the spacer. but the certain year cranks have a thicker flange. so it throws off whether a spacer is needed or not

i know a 2000 lq4 will bolt straight up to a th400. a 2001 lq4 + and 1999 and up ls1 will need a tci flexplate and pilot nose extension for a th400 or th350 convertor or a special built torque convertor that extends the pilot nose. the 1999-2000 lq4 will need a new crank to accommodate a a new style 4l60 or t-56.
