Seriously it depends on how you want to get there, you could do a cam only setup, but it would have to be a massive cam with power from 6000-7000 rpm as far as I know.
Or you could do a MILD H/C combo Like mine and get there, keep in mind my numbers are through a 9 inch too, so with a 10 bolt they would be more.
Or you could use N2O. Highest HP-dollar ratio power adder there is, and is relativly safe depending on how you do it.

Its all a money gain.
Start saving for 550rwhp, because soon after you get to 425 you WILL want it.

Ls6 or fast intake, heads, cam, headers/y pipe will get to 425 at the wheels.

/\Oh Im sure some nitrous fans will be in here fast to try to change your mind.
Honestly the best way to go(to me anyway) was a mild H/C setup. Stock driveability +125 rwhp.
Check out TSP and their 5.3L heads or 243 heads and cam pkgs. Best bang for the buck out there. Got my complete motor setup for about 2000 even.

yes i have heard great things about tsp. about there cams if i choose a cam without the valvetrain setup they only show me like a 112lsa but if i do a cam with a valvetrain kit it shows me up to 110lsa. does this mean if i get it with the valvetrain i can get one of their cams on a 110lsa?

They will sell you what ever you want, but... Bigger, choppy cams need a better valve train. Is this going to be daily driven?

Go with a lower lsa 112-111, 110's alittle to rough for my liking but to each their own. Either way it will sound mean at idle. Just make sure when its all done to have enough money left for a good tune.

Definately start with a header setup. No matter what that will be a really important base to the mods that will follow. 425rwhp is possible with a cam only setup, but honestly a good heads cam combo would probably be your best bet. The PRC Stage 2.5 5.3l combo with a TSP camshaft should be good for as much as 135+ flywheel horsepower gains!!

yes im def gonna get my headers around thanksgiving. then cam around christmas. i was thinking about the 228r or 233/239 on a 111 or 110 lsa prob on the 111 i feel that the 110 is to rough to. then have to start saving up for heads.

/\ Just to throw it out there are you subject to smog inspections?
A 224ish cam on a 114lsa with high flow cats will pass.

As far as what LSA, 112 seems popular, keep in mind that the LSA will change where your power/torque are, not how much just where they peak.

if you want to KEEP that power, factor in a 9". even as a weekend warrior, with 400+ at the wheels, that 10 bolt's day are numbered. but that is a whole different disscussion...

call TSP, tell them your goals and budget. wait for shipment. install. tune. its that easy
