Like the title says where is a cheap place to buy a time-sert kit for an ls1. I know they have specific kit for it but there is no way im spending $500 for it. Its an M11 x 2.0 insert and everything to install it.
Thanks in advance

Your lucky you only messed the threads up, use a 7/16 14 helicoil kit and stud instead of the m11 2.0, remember only to put stud in finger tight and torque the bolt at the top so you don't damage the repair, I am having same problem but the bolt broke off and I have to get the bolt out before I can retap or tap above what I did drill out, make sure you use all knew head bolts because they torque to yield and they weaken once you remove them, don't do what I did and break a bolt of in the block. Also make sure you get the 1.5 inch length heli coils. Permacoil heilcoil master thread kit has this, the whole kit was 87.00.

Do you have a direct link to the helicoil set you are talking about? and why 7/16 is that what fits best? Also is i searched and some people say that a helicoil isnt strong enough and will rip out... is that true?
And one more question....what kind of stud should i use? Or what should i use as a stud in other words?
Thanks in advance

Go to www.locknstitch.com, this is a distributor for Full-Torque FFb inserts that are 1,000 times stronger than heli coils and the FFB insert is made with a solid bottom so it totally seals the hole off. I spent 190 dollars on the inserts and the tap but you are going to need the right angle guide for drilling and tapping which they wanted 380 dollars for. My dad is a tool and die guy so he is makeing me the guide. You will have the use the 7/16 14 head bolt since they only make the m11x1.5. If you want the m11x2.0 you are going to have to get it from time sert but these inserts are not as strong and with full torque inserts they have a new spiral hook thread that has been engineered for a solid, strong and completley sealed head bolt hole. I am doing my repair this weekend I will let you know how it goes.

Go down to products and you will see what you need, it is the FFB insert with the FT4 tap, if this works for me I will let you use my guide also look under facts and questions to understand the differences from all the inserts and heli coils.
