Default Future n20 build - street car

Hey guys,

I will probably rebuild my motor once it goes (at 96K right now and i beat the hell out of it) to a nice forged nitrous motor for the street. How does this sound.

-347 block, stock crank, forged rods, forged nitrous pistons.
-around 11.0 compression
-stock worked ls1 heads
-ms3 or good nitrous cam
-victor jr. intake with 90mm elbow + TB
-1 7/8 headers with dumps or open Y pipe

necessary fuel upgrades (injectors, pumps, lines)

i think this should be good for 600 hp/tq on N20 and give me a solid 10 second street car.

If you're looking for 600hp, you could probably get away with stock rods bushed and resized with ARP bolts. Might save a couple hundred bucks or so.

If you don't use your rods, let me know, I may buy them from ya.

I would research the Vic Jr. idea more.

It likes high RPM's (you will prolly lose tq. down low).
Needs to be port matched.
Be very careful choosing elbow as most suck.

In short I think LS6 or Fast is better in street applications.

You have a pretty good plan. I'd use some 3.905 pistons with some decent rods. SCAT and Eagle are a couple good budget options. I shopped around on here and got a set of pistons, rods, and a short block with a weak piston for $750. I bought all of it seperately, but you can find great deals on here.

Head wise I'd probably use some 5.3 heads with larger valves. Probably something in the 2.02 --> 2.055 / 1.55 --> 1.60 range. You'll already have some decent valve reliefs in the pistons. Patriot gold valve springs are a great deal.

Cam wise the MS3 is a proven peformer. You'll a little bit of a larger stall depending on how loose yours is. I'm a large fan of getting a cam made specifically for what you want. Predator-Z and Patrick G are two of the cam gurus around here.

The bolt ons sound good. Texas speed's 1 7/8th headers are a great deal. I'm still happy they put them out.

thanks for the replies, i know the 5.3 heads are cheap but i figured i could save getting the stock heads worked? reason i picked the vic is to spin the motor high, low end torque doesnt really matter to me as i drive like a maniac everywhere, haha, but if i really wouldnt benefit from it maybe i could just do a fast.

i wont bother getting a new converter because eventually i want to switch to a 3 speed (350 or 400)
