Default Would This Be a Good Cam

I found this cam (227/234 .540/.540)for my build and have three questions. First, would this match well with a LS6 intake and a set of 5.3 Stage 2.5 heads? Second, would a 110LSA over a 112LSA kill my top end to much? Its a DD that see's weekend track trips. Should I use a 1.7 or a 1.8 rocker arm with this cam? I searched the post, but couldn't find anythin that quite answered all of them.

never heard of a cam with that configuration.

must be and OLD custom grind.

the lift is way too low to really take advantage of the flow potential of 5.3l heads.

even if you got it cheap, you'll be leaving power on the table.

better off getting a different cam.

yeah you could boost the lift with rockers...but for $400...why not just buy a cam with the lift ground in?

i'd look into the futral F13 or maybe the TSP 231/237

Would goin up to a 231/237 kill my low end torque? I want to maintain the low end power in balance with the hp. Thanks for the info. I had originally thought of a 228R, but am plannin on runnin a bottle at the track.

I would run the 228r cam on the bottle just put it on a 114 so it will run good on the bottle

that looks like a crane cam for an lt1.

the cam you have is fine. the "low lift" will work just fine. you MIGHT be leaving 5whp by not using a .600lift cam. stock 1.7 rockers are what you need, also grinding it on a 110lsa will improve the top end and increase mid-range tq. i'd opt for a 110+0 lsa.

it would be a great cam for someone wanting good driveability and excellent top end. would idle well and drive great with a *good tune.

unless you're planning on using a 300 shot or more, the lsa will have little to NO effect on power output when used w/n2o.

"Would goin up to a 231/237 kill my low end torque"

those moderate sized cams don't hurt much for low end.

and that "concern" seems to be over exaggerated anyway. alot of times its due to the drastic difference in power up top. if you have the same or even 10-20 additional lbs of torque at low rpm....but 50 more at peak...its gonna feel like you lost low end.

for comparison...my poorly tuned 233/233 cam made ~320lbft of torque at 2500rpms, and 330 or so at 3000.

i wouldn't say that's losing low end. and i can still cruise in 6th gear at 55mph on level roads...stock gears.

I agree. I would have to assume it would perform similar to my cam (226/236 .525 110lsa). The low lift doesnt seem to be holding me back any. Im making plenty of low-midrange torque and shift @ 6400. Topend is just fine as well. I still trapped 114mph easing off the line and losing traction in 2nd. Just my .02

After searchin posts and tech articles, I was leanin toward the 112 LSA as a balance of low end and drive ability. I how ever was unaware of the effect of LSA on nitrous, I want to spray a 150 shot. My goal is with heads, cam, intake, spray and suspension to be in the 11's. I don't mind buying a TSP 228R, just got offered a really good deal on this one. Thanks.
