5.3 is cast iron, too. I dunno why someone would drop a 5.3 into a camaro though. Could be a 6.0 with 5.3 heads, but that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

Two ways to check. First, you can pull the tranny, and clutch assembly / flywheel, or flex plate if its an auto and look at the back of the motor. The 6.0's have "6.0" stamped into them on the back somewhere i forget what side.

other way would be to pull the oil pan and measure the rod length. 6.098 is the rod length for a 5.3.

i'd personally pull the tranny. its easier.

Almost definetly a 5.3, hell a 6 liter short block costs almost what hes going to pay for the car total.
5.3 is a good block though, you can have it bored out and make a 346 or 383, as far as that goes its pretty much the same as an LS1 as far as I know

I'm the guy buying the car. You would assume that it is for sure a 5.3 because why would someone put a 6.0 block and sell it for only 4k? Well......the seller doesn't realize that there is an iron block engine in the car. He bought it from an auction cheap and does not know a whole lot about LSX cars. Holding out hope that it's a 6.0L engine, but perfectly ok with the 5.3L as well.
