Default Its Back?!? 218/228 Hot Chili Cam?

A buddy of mine just called me laughing his *** off. He just got a cam specced out by a workshop to suit his needs. He wants a torquey N/A daily driver and is going to add some boost in about 12 months time.

The specs he was given were:
218/228 .605/.588 XFI/XER LSA 113+1

which is.... THE HOT CHILI CAM

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...chili-cam.html

I still haven't put a baby cam in my daily driver, I was all set to go with a Hot Chili Cam but due to the negative responses in that thread, Ive had doubts and have put it off. Now, Im thinking about doing it again

I noticed the Predator-Z has specced a 218/224 .604/.609 113lsa+1 blower cam too which is pretty similar at a glance

Comments?

I know it looks unconventional at first BUT:
* it has -3 degrees overlap
* a small 218 intake for big torque
* a larger exhaust duration to scavenge
* a 10 degrees split (cheaTR has 16 degrees!)

His car is staying NA for a while then getting a front mount GT42R thats sitting in his house

Someone has to have some thoughts

I think it would work VERY well.

The 218/224 on XFI has been used over here and provides good results - with ample low-end through to midrange torque and the top end is also impressive. No, it won't make the power at the top that a 230+ duration cam will, but who lives at 5500rpm+ in a street car?

Cheers,

Macca

We have a 218* cam with our heads that made 450rwhp and 80lbft more torque @ 2500 rpm than a much bigger H/C package.

Is it anything like this one? Or only shares the intake lobe?

Maybe a 218/224 XFI?

Intake lobe on that one is all that matches.

The car has a slight lope with very good DD maners.

Take a look at comp cams website-new products. They have their new LSr cams listed. They have a new aggressive lobe design but more interesting to me is they have a big split-more exhaust duration. One you may like-219/227 .607/614 @112.

That's not a bad looking cam, I'd still pick our 218* though, but that's just me.
