cam install prices
hey, i was just wondering how much it would cost to install a cam with valvesprings and retainers in an ls1 camaro. I want like an average price I know its all different depending on where you go, but idk how much is involved so I'm just looking for a basic price range. Btw If you wanted to get more specific I live in RI, which I would travel around here and Mass to get it done if you know any exact prices from them places, thnaks

Here is a special that one of the sponsors was running for an install with the cam, valvesprings and pushrods. Keep in mind that this appears to be a fantastic deal. If I had to guess I would say about $1000 for the install.

Are you asking for just the install price(labor) or parts AND labor. If you supply the parts that cuts the cost in half. The cam swap isn't all that bad. To me the spring change is a lot more work because it is so tedious even with the Vinci/Crane tool which pays for itself in one cam swap. With all the special tools available on this site the job has been narrowed down to a science. You should consider an underdrive pulley which really shouldn't add to the labor cost since the old pulley has to go back on anyway. The cost of a reflash should be considered separately because the price can vary so much depending on whether you get a mail order tune or buy dyno time. You don't need hardened pushrods unless you go to rockers that have guide plates.
