To Cal: Why do you say that lower gears (numerically higher) will increase drivability? I care about the gas mileage, but the main thing Im concerned about with 4.10s is that I will be shifting incredibly soon when I really get on it! I just dont want to sacrifice my power gears so soon. Im really confused about this whole ordeal. I just need to know if I should advance or retard the cam and if either one, to explain why. Thanks

I'm just saying that 224 on a 112 is going to be more likely to bog off the line than your stock cam. It will also surge if you try to tool around at 1200 rpm, so having the lower gears will allow you to roll slower in gear and drive more normally. For racing, you want the ratios closer together so you can keep the engine in it's powerband. For normal driving, you may not need all six of your gears, but there's no law against skipping some of them.

4.10 is the perfict gear IMO. And your car will be easier to drive with 4.10's. You wont be shifting to soon?? 6400 will still be 6400. Yea it will be a shoter time period between shifts but also a shorter time period between 0 and 1320 feet. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I understand that I will be shifting sooner with the 4.10s and be getting to the end of the 1/4 sooner, but will it affect my gas mileage any? I just think for the street that being in that gear longer will benefit me. I say that because 2 of my buddies race one time and the guy who had more power also had 4.10s, but they were basically the same throughout the race due to him shifting so soon.
