Default what happened MTI?

i just went to their site and saw that they took off the T1 and B1 cams! i was about to order a T1. i know its an older cam but a friend of mine got his a couple years ago and i prefer the way his sounds compared to a guy i know with a C1. does anyone know if they just discontinued it because it was old school and they have newer technology with the C1, C2, and X1 cams? what happened?

Discontinued. Sound has alot to do with other factors such as the entire exhaust system from the headed right down to the exhaust tips.

The C1 is basically a T1 with one more degree on each side, a little bit more lift, and somewhat more aggressive lobes. A better cam, IMO. If you wanted a C1 on a 114 (similar to a B1) you could just tell 'em 114 and they'll have that ordered for you.

if you really want one, call Lunati. They have been selling them w/o MTI for a while now.

I'd listen to Col. if I were you, though. You'd be happier with the newer cams.

Yeah, if you were going to order a T1, get a C1 and expect almost the same sound/idle but with slightly more power (perhaps 5hp) and a little more valvetrain noise.

I would say that if you wanted a B1, then go with the larger of the stealth series. I bought a B1 originally for my C5 for a smoother idle and not too much valvetrain clatter. I think their new Stealth Series do this rather well without giving up any power to the old B1.

thanks for the enlightenment colonel.yeah i guess the sound depends on everything because the guy with the T1 had flp's and the SLP DD...the guy with the C1 had hooker lt's and catback. anyone with sound clips of their C1 with FLP's and open cutout? actually any sound clips of your car is apperciated because im trying to make a decision. thanks.

The C2 will idle better than the old Lunati T1 for sure since it has less seat duration. C1 is on XE lobes and the C2 is XE-R FYI

i dont know for some reason i dont really want a smooth quiet idle. im just saying i liked how choppy and blap blap blap sound. so most 112's sound the same or are all 112 lsa's different due to the different specs. sorry its a pretty stupid ?

I got the hammer cam but was initially stuck on the t1. When they stopped distributing it i though that was weird and read ALL the c1/c2 posts (after i read all the t1 posts)The c1 posts were more current(date-wise) and agreed that the c1 was a better cam due to a bit more power and a decent idle w/fast xe lobes. Evidently the difference between the old cams and the new ones are these xe lobes (i guess). anyway it is moderatley harder on springs, but thats about it.
Mine sounds almost stock (stock heads and manifolds w/ borla catback) i have not had it tuned yet, but ive logged 100 miles and the puter seems to have it figured out.... I think i can stall it a bit easier backing up or when running hot...but i did not drill my tb at all (yet). The first 50 miles it would idle funny and stall while creeping reverse. Pretty tame but the power band is not way past 5000 rpm either so that works for me.

Man, after typing all the same responses for years and years concerning cams.
It is nice to pop in and see correct and factually true statements about cams being made...all the while the more experianced learn and learn and the new fellas pick on their knowledge. Kinda like a circle.
Cool.
Just wanted to say thanks to fellas who responded the the new guy... y'alls remarks were right on target. GOOD JOB!

X1 rulz..I love mine...Jayson tuned it so perfect at idle and drilled the TB that even on the 112 it sounds "Tame"...till you go WOT then it will let you know it's there.

A local guy made 403 rwhp with an F1 cam and stock heads (same specs as X1).

It's the overlap between intake and exhaust events that gives them the choppy, lopey, sound. That means both duration and LSA contribute. If I were you, I'd put in a TR224 112.
