Default Dart Valve Seals - Replacements

Has anyone replaced the valve seals on their Dart heads? I am thinking of disassembling the heads I just removed before selling them and replacing the seals. There is nothing wrong with the seals just figured if I take them apart to clean them up I should probably replace them. I believe the newer Dart heads have blue seals on them.

Those are "viton" seals Bob. They are fine.

I just bought some seals from Texas Speed when I replaced the ones on my Dart heads.

Any part number or price? Didn't see them on their web site.

I don't want to drop a lot of money on heads I am selling, but it will make a nice little winter project cleaning them up and lapping in the valves again so it does have some "entertainment" value since my car will be closed up for the winter.

Why are you selling the Darts?

No numbers, but I think they were around 30 dollars or something like that. I got them a while back. I just called up and asked them about some.

Were they the blue ones with the integrated seat (like the original Dart valve seals)?

No, they had no integrated seats. They were a blue/turquise color and just seemed just like any other seals you would put on LS heads with dual valve springs. I will say they did fit both the valve and the guide snug.

I put the LS6 Z06 valve seals on my used Dart heads before I installed them. Got from GM dealer. They have the valve spring seat on them like the ones from Dart. I called Dart and they said the LS6 ones are the same as they use.

I forget the cost but around $60-70 from the local Stealer. You can probably get them for less from a sponser.

Thanks. I actually have one Dart seal that was an extra and my original LS1 seals, after checking them with a caliper that are pretty much identical.

I also re-used the shims that Dart uses when I installed the seals. The shims are a different thickness for the intake and exhaust valves.

Yes, I did too. Set them up with a micrometer. I plan to do the same here so whoever buys the heads will have the installed heights and valve spring seat values. Going to re-lap the valves as well so whoever buys them should get a good set of heads.
