slp h/c
I have SLP Heads.
They are basically your average Stage 1 ported heads nothing special, 2.00" intake 1.55" exhaust.
Back in mid 2001 I wanted a head/cam package, but I was on a budget at the time. All the stage 2 heads were a little too pricy. At the time SLP was a good brand name for aftermarket parts, so I thought I could trust em. Back then I spent $1900 on the SLP heads with SLP springs retainer etc..
I actually ran them with the stock cam for a few months. Then I threw a Thunder 224/224-112 cam in the car. The car semmed to have as much power as my friends 01 SS with S2 and a TR224 cam. It took about 6 months of daily driving and racing on weekends for the SLP springs to give out to the TR224. This was just this past December. I took the heads to a local machine shop and had them do a vavle job and deck the 3 sides(block, intake, exhaust) of the heads. I also ditched the SLP springs and went with REV dual springs from Thunder.
My SS is as fast as ever right now, but I will admit if I could do it all over again I would tell SLP to kiss my *** and I would have bought GTP S2 heads or similar in a second. As it is right now I think most of SLP's part suck. Almost all of the SLP parts I have bought since day 1, I have had to replace because they didn't hold up.
I would ignore the SLP H/C package, pay a few extra bucks for some quality ported heads that you are going to have for a long time. I'm looking to upgrade my heads, but because of the cost of heads I'm going to wait till the end of this coming racing season.

Don't get me wrong, their products are good, I really like their headers, except for the clearance issues.. But there are better head/cam choices out there at comparable prices...
I am looking for the same thing.. A highly streetable car that will not look to shabby if I did run it at a track...
I have a 2000 SS M6 Trans. SLP cat back exhaust, Slp air box lid, Slp smooth bellows, K&N air filter, BBK throttle Body, Granatelli Maf, 160' thermostat,Auburn High Torque differential with 3:42 gears... I ordered Hooker LT's today. My only other plans at this time is possibly a LS6 intake and 4:10 gears, which I am not too defenite on the gears yet... That is besides a H/C package... Idle quality is important/streetability is important. And of course the most HP for the buck. I would like to order something by the end of next week...
Any sponsors of this board have and cost effective packages they can recommend??? Please feel free to send me a PM or post.......
