Default Rear main seal replacement help

I'm in the middle of replacing my clutch and after taking off the flywheel bolts I noticed they had oil on them, it seems easy to install (pry off, tap in) but I did a search and on one of the threads it talked about how you are suppose to have everything aligned (oil pan and cover) is this true?

if the cover hasn't been off I don't think you will have an issue.

I didn't take my rear cover off. I just pried the old one out and tapped the new one in. Make sure you get the updated part # because it seals up differently. I used some type of sealing compound on mine just incase. I know it says to put it in dry but I don't see why putting a little gasket sealer on would hurt anything. It has not leaked 6 months later and took less than 2 minutes to change.
