Default Help pick my Cam/Stall Setup

for a long time now i have been drooling over the cammed cars lol but now its finally time for me to get a cam and stall. I need help picking a good Cam/Stall for a Daily Driver 2000 A4 WS6 with 78k on it....ive been looking at the Tr224 for a long time now but from what i hear i will wish i had gone bigger so lately i have been looking at the TSP 228r and a stall around 3400-3600. I really hate that i will loose mph with the stall because 99% of my races are highway runs but hopefully the cam will make up for it. Im wanting to know any setups that would be recommended and what 1/4 times to expect.

right now i have LT's, Tune, Free Mods, LS1 Intake , Catback, Cutout, and Lid best time so far is 12.78 @ 109 on street tires.

you should never loose mph with an aftermarket stall that is not correct..maybe if you go with a fuddle or tci or something of the like you will lose mph...that is one of the main reasons i went with the yank...an aftermarket stall made correctly should not give up mph to produce E.T. it should do both and be more efficient than the stock converter...i.e. give the same or more mph...

both my stalls ss3600 & ss4000 gave me 1mph more at the track over a stock stall...i say ss4000 for the win...

check out circle d too they have nice billet converters...not sure about their efficiencies though

TSP 228R and a Yank SS3600 make for a great street combo. This is the combo I am running and I love it. My times are in my sig and I am still running the stock 3.23 gears.

Highway runs huh? Thats my cup of tea. I had a TR230/224 and it ran great on the street M6. Ran with bigger cams on the street. A buddy of mine had the same bolt ons, both Heads and cam cars, but he had the TRak cam (231/234) and an auto with a 3600 stall. He would put almost a car on me by 120 (started at 40). Mainly because I am better at frum rolling than him and I would get the jump every time.

I loved the power band of the TR230. When it cam to racing, I hated how it ran out of breath around 6k. If your more concerned about beating your buddies (like I do) I would go with a mid 230s cam. My buddy went 119 with his Trak cam on the track too.

Highway runs huh......yea you're going to get some haters on your case for that comment!

224s are great cams for a DD/track cars, but haven't really heard of very many participating in the "Texas Mile" So don't know of their true top end (5500-6000rpm+)capabilities.

But I would agree w/ the others in the 228 or the TR230. Bigger choices would be Si5, Si5 v2, Torquer 2.

Or just take the easiest route, get $25, fill out Patrick G's custom cam order form and have him spec you one w/ your preferred combo/plans etc.
