There are a few C5 Corvettes running around over 300,000 miles w/o much more than basic maintenance. I know one guy gave his to his sone with 315k or so on it and his son still drives it. He got a C6 to replace it. I believe the car had a few clutches, a new trans, and a new water pump. Other than that oil changes etc.

I met a guy around here that has 200k on his 98 Z28. He has got a nitrous kit on it, I don't know how big but it was 75-150ish I would guess. And he had true duels with no cats and a tune. It seemed to be runnin like a top!

You don't even need to wash it. I have a 98Z with 175k, stock except Vig 3600 stall, runs 12.9 still. I beat the living hell out of this car and it just won't stop running. I run it through the automatic car wash once in a while, that's it. What I do to this car would make most of you guys cringe.

You know how you guys have beaters for the winter? This Z28 is my beater. I drive it all winter except when there's snow on the roads (these suck worse than anyhting I've ever seen in the snow).

I only change the oil at every 6k, I use Wal Mart tech 1 oil, and I only change the filter every-other time.

I bought it way back when for $6800 when it had 75k on it, it was pretty nice then. I've now put an ADDITIONAL 100k on it, and have had no problems except for a trans sun shield (probably due to racing/burnouts). Engine loses about 1/2 quart of oil per 3k miles. No smoke. Some piston slap when it's cold, nothing major. Right now exhaust sounds like crap probably from the rust of the Pennsylvania salt.

I expect to get minimum 200k on this stock original engine.

My only complaints would be the headlights look like they were sandblasted/fogged from all the miles of dirt chipping away, these should have been glass or something more durable. The supposed stainless steel exhaust is rusting and there's a rust hole in the bottom of the stock muffler now, I was under the impression that stainless never rusts, guess I was wrong there. Lots and lots of rattles. Other than that I'm happy with this beater. These cars are rock solid. Gives me a lot of confidence in my Vette's driveline seeing how strong this Z is.

12k intervals w/ el crapo filters isnt a good idea at all. Once the bypass valve opens your oil inst getting filtered.

I've got 189k it was virgin LS1 when I got it. With LS6 intake, 85mm MAS, lid and catback it did 13.2 @105 with no tune. I just did hooker LTs and a tune and WOW it runs nice! Should be maybe 12.99! No smoke, plugs perfect and Oil psi is 60 above 2k.

Highest I have seen was 297,000 miles. Was an old customer/friend of mine that drove his 98 C5 around the country for business (sales). He was driving the car 1000-1500 miles per week for a long time. He moved to Virginia, but as far as I know he still has the car and it's still running on the original engine.

I've worked on several in the 120-180K range.
