the difference on low end TQ with the 5.3s and the ls6s is going to be minimal..

hey man got a freind with worked 5.3s and a ms4 and hes pushing 468hp with no nos at the rear tires. he went a 6.8 in the 8th mile with a radial tire, 100 shot and a carberator that fell on its face at 5800rpm. the guy we had tone it said he should shift at 6500rpm.

ms4 seems a little much imo auto cars work better with a lil smaller cam. but there are some bad *** cars that run ms4s. will the rest of your car be set up to handle a high RPM launch?

5.3 heads will work fine, if you do it right. The heads need to be fully ported by someone who knows what they are doing.

The compression needs to go up, way up. Think 11.5:1 minimum. The MS4 will want alot more RPM than the LS6 or BBK intake can handle, so you're looking towards a FAST 90/92mm intake, preferrably ported. That cam also wants a healthy exhaust. An ORY and cutout is restrictive, look to a dual setup.

Finally, gear it up (3.73 and 4000 stall for autos minimum, or 4.10 for manual trans, ideally a 4.30) and shift it around 7000RPM.

Failure to meet any of those requirements means you've got too much cam.

What!? An MS3 if anything would be worse. The overall specs are near identical, but the intake lobe difference of the MS4 makes it slightly more friendly.

ms3: 237/242, .603"/.609"
ms4: 239/242, .649"/.609"
I would run the MS3 with some PRC stage 2.5 5.3's

I know the specs, I have the MS4. And I stand by my statement. The MS4 behaves better than the MS3 does. Even though the MS4 is bigger on the intake side, it makes more torque in the lower RPM range and creates more vacuum.

i believe a ms4 cam or ms3 is almst to much for a stock commpression engine, people make them work awsome but for a street car that dont have a huge stall they are to much.

it wasnt designed for someone that wanted a cammed car to run around on the street with..

it was designed for max effort setups... whether it be on the strip or on the street.. people that know how to build setup make rediculous numbers and get amazing track times with this cam... people that dont pair it with an ls6 intake 373s 3500 stall stock heads..
