24x Reluctor Wheel replacement

24x Reluctor Wheel replacement Has anyone ever had to replace their reluctor wheel?...Just wondering how difficult it would be....I've heard of guys doing it but it looks like a ^%$# to do by yourself....
It's easy to align with the proper tool, but best done by a professional still. I've seen several big name LSx crank manufacturers mess this "easy" job up. If possible, get it tacked into place as well to help ensure it will not spin on the crank.

Where can one buy the tool? I bought a crank without a reluctor wheel and I was planning to use a distributor, but now it's going in a car with a stock computer, so I need to put the wheel on.

It is still possible to install the wheel upside down. I had a shop screw one of mine up like that. Gets expensive after the engine is installed!

I just put it on without the tool....heated it in oven (425deg) and it went on super easy....just have to get it lined up right before it gets too cold. I didn't drink any beer prior to install which also helped...it looks really good. thanks for all the posts/replys.

There's a reason they have a tool for this install. Not only does the reluctor have to be clocked right on the crankshaft but the depth has to be perfect as well. Good luck.

... it's really interesting to me how no other vendor makes a simple tool for this particular procedure...the more I look at it, the more I see there's only one way for this to go on...
