Default No oil pressure need help asap

i did try to search but i couldnt find anything. So i just finished my LS6 stroker and put it in my car today. I got it all wired up and and started it. it started right up after i primed it a few times, and it Did not show any oil pressure on my gauge so i shut it off. i looked in my vaulve cover and i had plenty of oil in it so i started it back up and walked around to look in my vaulve cover again and i had oil splashin around in there but it still showed no oil pressure on my guage?? i know i hooked everything up cause i triple checked it all before i tried to start it. any ideas???

By "my gauge" you mean the one on the IPC? Hopefully it's just broken or not connected.

I'd check the sending unit/connection.

Whick block are you running? Stevieturbo had a low oil pressure issue with his LS2 a couple weeks ago and people listed all kinds of problems it could possibly be.

Ill bet 100 if you pull your intake and put in a new OPSU it will pop up on the dash. They are brittle as **** and it broke when you had all your parts laying around. You can just pay me when it pops up OP on your dash when you put the new one in Austin.

Or it could be the oil pump o-ring that's pinched?

Doubt it, If it has enough pressure to push oil through the pushrods and lube the top than thats less suspect. I would put a mech guage on it to see true pressure.

When you turn the key to "power on" without starting, the needle on the gauge should move a tad. If it doesn't, it's the wiring. So, + 4 on an electrical issue.

.....However, it is possible to move oil through the block without building pressure to the sender if the barbell fitting is missing from the rear of the block. I doubt that this is the problem, but thought it should be mentioned. It looks like this & goes here (see pics).

I would look over your wiring and replace the sending unit. If that doesn't work, hook up a mechanical gauge and make sure you actually have pressure or not. If not, you need to start looking over everything internally in the motor. As mentioned above the oil restrictor needs to be checked, oil galley plug, cam retainer plate, oil pump o-ring, pick-up tube to pan clearance, etc. all needs to be gone over.

You would have a massive oil leak if the barbell were missing though, correct? Thats why I didnt really mention that...

No, because the barbell is behind the rear cover. The oil will just pump right back into the pan if it is left out.

How long was the engine sitting prior to being started? I'm no expert I have only done a single swap using a stock 2002 ls1 that I purchased used from a wrecked auto. After getting it installed it fired right up and had zero oil pressure. After pulling the engine twice double bolting the pickup tube, checking clearance to the pan and rtving the oil O-ring the engine still had no pressure. I was about to shoot myself in the head. I then said what the F>>K I'm going to find out if I have a bad pump or leaking O-ring. I overfilled the crank case to the tune of 19+ qts cheap 5w30 oil until It ran out the plug on the driver side just past the oil pump. This insured the pump was primed. I then cranked over the engine without starting it and had instant pressure. I drained the engine put in mobile one to proper level and have had oil pressure ever sense. Apparently the pumps are bad about drying out and will not prime themselves. I have heard similar stories from others here. Hope this helps.
