im going to start assembling my shortblock soon, and i need to know what pistons will work best with my setup.

im going for a good N/A power this year and im using these

heads. next year ill be spraying a 350+ direct port, so i need something thats going to be nitrous friendly. i dont know what comp ratio to run, since ill be spraying such a large shot. i just know ill be running thoes heads, on a 408 with probably a TSP texas Giant this year, and next year run a custom nitrous cam.

Diamond or Wiseco pistons, both have their advantages

depending on situation sometimes use wiseco cause their shelf piston C/D works better for a decked block, out of the box.

Wiseco is in the middle of moving all their shelf sets over to using GFX rings, they will cost more, its a better ring, napier 2nd ring.

If I need a 4.040" piston with a 1.100" CD i'll use Diamond, Eric there can get out a custom set quicker.

you can't go wrong with either brand

sorry, im using the TFS 220 as cast heads for now, and next year ill take them to have them CNC ported at TEA. (i live 2 hrs from them) i guess mainly my question was, what dish should i run with, what CD, pin boss location...etc.

Well, we need to know what rod you plan on running (length). Has teh block been decked? Used or new block? You know history of the block? I am assuming a 4" crank and 4.030 over 6.0 truck block is gonna be your setup? A DD? Street only car? Strip only car? Both? Weekend warrior? What? I ask, as that would determine compression (for the most part) or how much compression you can get away with anyways (race gas or pump)
need more info

alright....
the block will be zero decked when the pistons and rods are chosen. the block im getting is used, and as far as i know it hasent been decked. ill have the machine shop check it out when i get it. it is a 04 6.0 iron block, unless the deal falls thru, ill be looking for another one.

its going to be a race car that is driven on the street. i.e. if im feelin froggy, ill take it out for a cruise. otherwise ill probably want to drive it to the track ~an hour drive or so, and maybe take it on a road trip this summer. so i'd like it to be somewhat streetable. but most of its life will be on the track. this is part of the reason i decided to go with a 408, because a max effort 346 is not very street friendly and i can get better performance out of this and it will still have street manners.

next year, i plan to spray it with a 350-400hp direct port kit, so i would like to prepare for that now. i talked to the guy at TEA and he suggested the "as cast" 220 TFS heads for my budget now, and next year, bring them back (i only live 2 hrs from TEA) and he will CNC them for a small fee.

im looking to have a bullet proof bottom end with eagle crank and rods, i just need to know what pistons to run with them. im not exactly sure what CR i need to go with because of the nitrous.

i would like to have 500+RWHP N/A and around 850 on the sauce.

i already have a 9 inch rearend with 4.11 gears with a chromemoly driveshaft, and i will be rebuilding the T56 to handle around 900 hp to be on the safe side of life. LMK if there is anything else specificly you need to know. i want to have all these plans layed out before i go buying parts that dont match up.

Wiseco K394F3. 2618 material, coated skirts, -8cc reverse dome, 4 inch stroke, 4.03 bore, 6.125 rod, 1.115 CH

I'm building pretty much what you want to build right now. Check the link to my Formula in my sig. The last page outlines everything I'm working on and all of the parts I'm using.

I'll be running a 61cc chamber, .055 compressed thickness stock gaskets, and roughly .005 out of the hole. It works out to 11.47:1

Use this and plug in numbers.

well, i found my rotating assembly today. im getting it from Liberty Engine parts in PA. they have a kit with an in house 4340 crank, 4340 H-beam rods, Mahle Pistons, rings, main and rod bearings, and wrist pins. i was sniffing around the machine shop today at work, and found their catalog laying around. im getting everything at dealership cost (perks of washing cars there) of $16xx.xx. i talked to the guy on the phone and he said the kit would hold up to my plans for the car. (350 direct port). i think i got a pretty good deal.

I bought a K1 forged 4 inch crank and K1 forged 6.125 rods with ARP2000 rod bolts for $504 shipped from California. I bought a set of Wiseco -32cc dish pistons for $250. I traded some old parts I have for an engine that I trade for cash, a nitrous kit, and an iron block. Grand total = $754 + gas.

If you shop around you can really find good deals on here. What you got seems like a nice deal depending on what material the pistons are, their specs, and what type the crank / rods are. Good job.
