installing h20 pump b4 re-installing the heads?

installing h20 pump b4 re-installing the heads? My heads are out being ported and milled, UPS should have them delivered back to me next Tues. In the meantime, I'd like to do what I can in advance.
1. Think I'll run into any problems if I mount the water pump now?
2. A new set of LS7 style lifter are also going in at this time. I've read both, pre-soak them in oil & not to pre-soak. Any advice?

it took me all of 10 mins to get the WP back on when i put my mez unit in.
so i can't see you gaining much.
removing the lower idler pulley makes reinstall much easier...that one bolt is tricky
