Question oil pan clearance/ windage tray

Just wondering how much clearance you need between the pan and tray for a wet sump, have a k-fame in the way. I have no more than 1.800' or 45mm from block to outside bottom of pan. I were going to use a dry sump but it's going to cost a heap while the AUS dollar worth half to the US dollar.

solid engine mounts?
there is no required clearance. just keep it from making contact, IMO.
rubber mounts can sag over time and cause the pan to sit on the frame and either rattle, or wear the pan over time.

So as long as the windage tray don't touch the oil pan, i have enough clearance?

I'm trying to keep engine low as possible in the engine bay to help the bellhousing and box to fit. I can rise the engine height a little but it causes more problems

not exactly sure what you are doing.
if you have the correct tray and pan, they bolt right up.
clearance from the pan to the frame should be your only issue.
if you are asking about clearance between the oil pan and tray, you must have modified something?

I,m putting a ls1/5spd tremec in a LC Torana, which is a 1000kg factory 6cyl car. If i raise the engine it will hit the bonnet, and if i lower it everything gets easier.

This is my problem.

the red line is where it needs cutting. Which will leave 1.800' from block .

This shows the ls1 sitting in the engine bay

Make sure to give it a little more clearance than you think it needs...many people don't take into account expansion of metals, deflection, etc when they're shimming the windage tray and it hits when they actually run the engine (it didn't hit on the stand when rolled over).

Pretty tight... I believe I'd section and reinforce that crossmember a bit, then it looks like you could use a truck pan with the bottom trimmed 2 or 3 inches.
