Default Comp 875 lifters

Got a question about these lifters,

i ordered a cam (25ish LSL lobed) directly from comp for my 408, and they told me on the phone i needed the 875's instead of the 850's i currently have..
He then told me there easy to install, just pop off intake and push them right in

in the end i went back and forth telling him i didnt want them. and the dude went ahead and shipped them to me anyway. charging my card 247$.

do i really need these lifters or am i ok with the 850's..

you would have to pull the heads to put new lifters in....there is no simple pull of intake switcheroo on this one. if you pull the intake you will be looking at the valley plate

guy sounds like a retard

go with stock lifters....$100 cheaper, pretty much the same thing, IF you are going to replace the lifters

While the 875's are a better lifter (IMO) than the 850's or LS7 lifters, they are more difficult to set-up correctly. They (875's) want virtually no pre-load, whereas the 850 and stockers will like between .050"-.100" preload. So you'll need an adjustable rocker arm, or to be very diligent about picking the correct pushrod length to setup the preload correctly.

so the question is, i've used my 850's on the Xer cam for a year now, but i'm wondering if they are right to use the 875's with the LSL cam..
or are my 850's sufficient??

If you've already got the 850's, I'd just stick with them. They're a nice piece for the average street/strip car!

not meaning to hijack thread but i had a 250/255 615/622 113 cam and the 850 comp lifters and have had 2 lifters fail in 2 seperate occassions.. i also have a 408.... i was told by the warranty manager that the reason my lifters were failing was over revving.... i rev to 6900 or 7k..... he said the 850 lifters are only designed to rev to 6500.... is this true? also what lifters should i run? also ruined my cam so i will be looking for another one...
