I'm putting them in my LT1,they will handle more than i'm going to throw at them and there a lot cheaper than aftermarket. I paid $137 for a set, I didnt do it for a performance gain. It needed lifters so i'm putting them in

They are SUPPOSED to be sturdier and SUPPOSED to take more of a beating at high rpms. You wont see any HP difference by switching lifters.

They are plain and simple the latest lifter part number, there is nothing magic about them. Likely same materials as the LS1 lifters that came with your car. They seem to have aura about them because they are "LS7", but they are the standard replacement lifter for all Gen III motors.

X3. Same as stock, but packaged in a set of 16 from GM.

The reason people buy them when replacing stockers (typically on higher mileage vehicles), is that it is less expensive to buy the kit of 16 lifters than it is to buy 16 individuals. Same part though!

They are cheap, new, and good insurance when doing H/C.

Well when properly matched they are good to use but that is not to say they are the cure all for any cam and spring combo out there. That is what vettenuts is trying to say

obviously something like a Morel would be the best, money permiting.
but for someone doing a H/C swap and just wanting to replace the lifters while in there what would be a good choice? cam will be a custom grind .621/.624 LSL lobes. will the stock replacement "LS7s" be alright with it, are the comp 850-16s any better?
