Will I gain enough from swapping these two cams to be worth the effort?
Right now I have a TR224 on a 112 LSA that has worked really well for me. Considering it's one of the most popular cams out there, I'm not sure if I'd be happier swapping it out. Thing is, I know it's an older design and as technology marches on, there could be something better out there. A cam my friend is selling is looking really tempting to me, and with a $150 price tag it's almost too cheap NOT to try out. Here are the specs:
228/232@.050 duration
.612/.600 lift
111 LSA
recommended 108 ICL
I would think this cam would give me a little more power under the curve and still breathe really well up top. I'm planning on milling my heads a bit to bump my SCR up so low end won't suffer at all. I know that typically a jump of 4 degrees won't change much, but the 228 cam has more aggressive lobes than my TR224 and that might make a larger difference. Opinions?

The head milling alone should pick up 10 RWHP, I think. I need to get into the engine to replace the lifters anyway, so it's not that much additional work.

If he picks up 10 across the board (this is possible) then it would think that its worth it. Hardest part of a cam swap is the crank pulley and the lifters. If that doesn't bother you then change it.

I just said I wouldn't thats all lol. Mine is also my DD though. But if he has the time and I guess I totally forgot about the milling the heads part so yea if you are all ready gonna have the heads off then it might not really be that bad.
